reading·ebooks·self-hostingKOReader is an open-source reading app for e-ink devices, and one of my favourite features is its progress sync. It remembers the last page you read and syncs it across your devices, so you can put one reader down and pick up in exactly the same spot on another.
I read the same books on different devices: a Kindle Paperwhite running KOReader, an Xteink X4 pocket reader running the CrossPoint firmware, and Readest on my phone. All talk to the same small “kosync” server, pushing and pulling the last-read position per book.
You can use the free public sync server, or self-host the tiny koreader-sync server yourself. I run my own so my reading data stays mine. On each device you point the progress-sync setting at the server and log in:
- Kindle (KOReader): Tools → Progress sync → Custom sync server
- Xteink X4 (CrossPoint): Settings → System → KOReader Sync
